An Exhibition by Jeremy Shaw
Presented by Artclub At Our House

There is something wonderfully peculiar about the way Australians inhabit the coastline. A place of natural beauty becomes a theatre of human activity, where bodies gather beneath the harsh summer sun, children leap fearlessly into the ocean, and sunbathers surrender entire afternoons to the pursuit of warmth.

In ENDLESS SUMMER, Australian photographer Jeremy Shaw presents a retrospective of his observations along Sydney's coastline, documenting the enduring relationship between its people and the sea.

Across years of photographing beachgoers, Shaw captures the rituals, humour and quiet intimacies of life at the water's edge. From crowded rock pools and sun-drenched bodies to moments of solitude amongst the chaos, his photographs reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary.

There is a playful honesty to these images. Unposed and unapologetic, they celebrate the rawness of Australian beach culture, where the boundaries between public and private, nature and human behaviour, seem to dissolve.

At once nostalgic and deeply familiar, ENDLESS SUMMER invites us to reconsider a landscape we think we know so well. Beyond the postcard image of the Australian beach lies something more human: a shared place of joy, vulnerability, freedom and belonging.

These are scenes we have all witnessed, rituals we have all participated in, and moments that collectively shape our relationship with the ocean.

A portrait of Australian summer, in all its wonderfully imperfect glory.
